Australian Chamber Orchestra

2020 Residency

Richard Tognetti and the ACO portrait

Our International Associate Ensemble at Milton Court bring their unbridled sense of adventure and daring virtuosity to three typically fascinating programmes, as they bounce new music off old.

Richard Tognetti's trailblazing orchestra compare music by two profoundly religious composers from very different Christian traditions in J S Bach and Arvo Pärt; get under the skin of Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata and the music it inspired; and pair music by indie composers Jonny Greenwood and Bryce Dessner with the 20th-century Polish greats they idolise – Penderecki, Szymanowski, and Lutosławski.

‘An orchestra that, by any standards, is one of the wonders of the musical world today.‘
