Human Rights Watch Film Festival 2020

A group of Bangladeshi women inside a factory gather together to look at something off camera

Human Rights Watch Film Festival returns to the Barbican for its 24th edition, offering critical insights on human rights concerns impacting people around the world.

The festival celebrates diversity of content and perspective, and prioritises space for identities, viewpoints, forms of expertise and experiences usually silenced or marginalised. In curating this year’s films, we found the over-riding message to be one of hope. With a collection of films featuring radical women leaders, indigenous rights, mass collective movements and the power of journalism, there’s plenty to celebrate.

As always, there are discussions after each screening with filmmakers, protagonists, Human Rights Watch researchers, and activists, and you are invited to come and ask questions and to further engage with topics covered in each film.
