Cheek by Jowl’s full production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure is now available to stream online until Monday 25 May

We’re very pleased to share this critically acclaimed production presented by our Artistic Associates Cheek by Jowl. This recording was captured in 2015, on the final night’s performance at the Barbican.

Declan Donnellan, Cheek by Jowl Artistic Director:

Measure for Measure is about many different things; it always strikes me as a very modern play. It’s a play about control and how one of the ways that we are controlled, by not only governments, but by churches and other institutions that seek to control us, is shame. We are controlled by shame. It starts with parents and it develops, and it is an extremely good way of controlling people.

From the company:

We extend our deep gratitude to the Barbican (our London home), the Arts Council England, and our audiences for their continued support for our work. Thanks also to those who have made it possible for us to bring this production into people's homes. We hope you enjoy the show.

Find out more about this production of Measure for Measure on Cheek by Jowl’s website where you can also enjoy their stream of A Winter's Tale until Monday 25 May.
