Inviting emerging Instagrammers from around London to experience life at the Barbican and share their photography

Our April Instagrammer in Residence is Giselle Jonte (@gisjonte), whose Instagram feed captures everyday life and architectural structures in a new light.

Can you please introduce yourself?

I'm a young Industrial Designer who's been living in London for a year now. I'm working full time in a company that allows me to be creative and be inspired all the time.
When not at work, I enjoy going to events related to arts, music, theatre or cinema and most of all taking pictures! I love pure, poetic compositions that make objects and surroundings unique.

What inspires you about the Barbican and its neighbourhood?

I love Barbican. I guess as a designer I have a sensitivity for certain beauty and its brutalist architecture caught my eye. Barbican's walls transpire decades of history while details in each perspective amaze me every time I visit.

Which five Instagram accounts should everyone follow?

@jasminedowling - hand letterer and graphic/digital designer from Australia. She's an inspiring entrepreneur and her feed is simply gorgeous

@philcuttance - designer/maker based in London who casts the nicest vases in his own studio. I discovered him thanks to Barbican

@satsukishibuya - artist and spiritual thinker. Her paints are truly beautiful and all captions have a very special message

@ignant - a society and culture online magazine featuring great art, design and photography

@tobishinobi - an amazing photographer I had the pleasure to meet. Features architecture pics mainly from London
