Barbican announces The Testament of Ann Lee with Daniel Blumberg and special guests
The Testament of Ann Lee
with Daniel Blumberg & special guests
Following his Oscar and BAFTA-winning score for The Brutalist, composer Daniel Blumberg will perform as part of the Barbican’s programme at Milton Court Concert Hall on 8 February 2026 for an exclusive concert presenting music from Mona Fastvold’s forthcoming film The Testament of Ann Lee.
The film tells the extraordinary story of true legend Ann Lee (portrayed by Amanda Seyfried), founder of the Shaker movement which championed radical beliefs like gender and social equality in the 18th century. Revered by her followers, Ann Lee’s rapturous quest to build a utopia unfolds through a blend of song, movement and up-close character storytelling.
For the film’s score, Blumberg radically reimagined traditional Shaker hymns and composed original songs, including the recently released duet with Amanda Seyfried “Clothed by the Sun”, as well as contributing to the score itself. In Milton Court Concert Hall next year, Blumberg collaborates with an ensemble of special guest singers and instrumentalists who feature on the score in a show that will coincide with the film’s UK release (watch trailer here), in cinemas on 20 February 2026.
