Barbican announces Radie Peat performance of debut solo album No Human Tongue Can Tell, plus caroline show
Radie Peat
Singer and multi-instrumentalist Radie Peat, also a member of groundbreaking Irish folk group Lankum, takes to the Barbican in 2027 with No Human Tongue Can Tell (Rough Trade Records, 2026), her newly announced debut solo album.
With unique vision, staggering vocal range and a wry sense of knowing, Radie Peat distils the essence of folk music into her songs and performances. Already one of Ireland’s most influential and revered vocalists, Peat is celebrated for her powerful contralto voice, technical vocal authority, and emotional depth. Following the release of her debut single ‘Still I Love Him’ with Rough Trade Records this summer and an extraordinary music career to date, Radie Peat will bring a taste of her highly anticipated solo material to the Barbican Hall stage.
Peat’s trajectory as a multi-instrumentalist and singer began when she took up the concertina at a young age and started playing and singing alongside her sisters at traditional Irish music sessions. Music was a solace during formative teenage years, during which time she became great friends with Cormac Mac Diarmada. The two would later join with Ian and Daragh Lynch to form music group Lankum, which has become a cornerstone of contemporary Irish folk music. More recently Peat formed ØXN with Katie Kim, Eleanor Myler, and John ‘Spud’ Murphy to create a doom folk supergroup characterised by pensive lamentations from the darker side of the Irish storytelling and song tradition.

caroline present caroline 2.5
London 8-piece collective caroline return to the Barbican with caroline 2.5 – a one-off interdisciplinary show in the Barbican Hall, showcasing a new live experience of their acclaimed second album caroline 2 (Rough Trade Records, 2025) and more.
An extension of the layered worlds and environments that define caroline’s second album, the band present a brand-new live performance for the Barbican Hall stage. Audiences will see caroline 2 presented in full, with songs reworked for the stage, alongside new material, additional performers and ambitious staging in a one-off multi-disciplinary show that hints ahead to what comes next.
caroline 2, was released in May 2025, achieving a Pitchfork Best New Music, The Quietus and Stereogum Album of the Week, and rave reviews from NME, DIY, Line of Best Fit, Clash and beyond. The album explores juxtapositions of poppy autotuned melody, arrhythmic experiments and heartfelt harmonies, with lead single ‘Tell me I never knew that’ featuring Caroline Polachek. The album has introduced the band to a new fanbase, going far beyond the cult following of their earthier, repetition-laden 2022 debut caroline, selling out shows across the UK, US, Europe, Japan and China.
