Dego & 2000Black Family meets Theo Parrish & Sound Signature Voices (Live)
Errol and Alex Rita’s South London-based movement Touching Bass return to the Barbican to premiere a one-night-only live collaboration between soulful electronic music giants Dego and Theo Parrish. Taking over in the Barbican Hall on 3 May, the concert unites Dego and his 2000Black band with Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature for a landmark reimagining of their shared discographies.
Dego and Parrish are sonic pioneers of electronic music. While singular in their respective sounds, the pair’s work has long-forged transatlantic connections through Black music.
With only a handful of public performances to date, UK dance legend Dego, will lead an exceptionally rare full-scale live appearance with the 2000Black entourage. Detroit icon Parrish returns to the Hall after an acclaimed performance in 2014 and brings his signature “sound sculpture” approach to the stage. He will be joined by a powerhouse trio of Sound Signature vocalists: Monica Blair, Ideeyah and Khadeeja Grace.
Curated by Errol and Alex Rita as part of TB10: Touching Bass’ 10th Anniversary World Tour, the evening continues their concert series partnership with the Barbican. As torchbearers of a new generation – shaped by the principles and practices of the likes of Theo Parrish and Dego – Touching Bass are perfectly positioned to realise this meeting. TB10 extends Touching Bass’ ethos globally, as they partner with artists, venues and like-minded musical entities for a year-long programme of club nights, concerts and intimate gatherings.
About the performers:
A tireless innovator of Black British music, Dego has spent over 30 years shaping the contours of UK dance and electronic culture. From his early roots in sound system culture and pirate radio to his genre-defining work with 4hero, and as founder of 2000BLACK and a key architect of broken beat, his output fuses jazz, soul, techno and futurist electronics with deep London roots.
Theo Parrish is the seminal Washington D.C.-born, Detroit-based DJ, producer and founder of Sound Signature, renowned for his raw, afro-futurist sound and uncompromising dedication to electronic music as a Black art form.

Nourished by Time
Baltimore-born singer-songwriter and producer Marcus Brown, aka Nourished By Time, makes his Barbican Hall debut in July 2026, following the release of his latest album The Passionate Ones (XL Recordings/ August 2025).
Following a sold-out appearance at Brixton Electric in November 2025, Brown brings his emotionally charged blend of post-punk, New Wave, R&B, electro-funk, and experimental indie pop to the Hall.
The Passionate Ones tackles love, labour, existentialism, dreams, disillusionment, and hope through the lens of meta modernism, documenting an American story of an artist using their vices to keep afloat while following their passions and dreams. Its sound is shaped by the rich and varied musical heritage of his hometown of Baltimore, where jazz, punk, indie, hip hop, electronic music and R&B collide in raw harmony.
In 2025, The Passionate Ones marked a significant point in Nourished By Time’s career, receiving wide critical attention across international music press. NPR celebrated it as “pop music for the apocalypse - not for submission, but for survival” and the album was named the number one release of the year by The Needle Drop and was included in year-end lists from publications including Pitchfork, Passion of Weiss, Rolling Stone, NME, Clash, Paste, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Stereogum and Dazed. Its reception reflected the album’s resonance within contemporary music culture and established Brown as a distinctive voice defining the sound and spirit of his generation.
