Barbican announces Josephine Foster date (Sun 28 April 2019)
Josephine Foster + Saloli
Sun 28 Apr 2019, LSO St Luke’s, 7.30pm
Tickets £15 – 17.50 plus booking fee
American folk singer-songwriter and musician Josephine Foster makes a welcome return to the Barbican’s programming after almost a decade. In this concert date at LSO St Luke’s in April 2019 she will present material from her recent, critically-acclaimed, four part, 18-song double album Faithful Fairy Harmony (Fire Records, November 2018). The new material explores themes of mortality and morality and features ritual prayers, blues laments, vestal hymns and jubilant benedictions. Foster will be joined on stage by her band featuring Victor Herrero (guitar), Rosa Gerhards (vocals, bass), Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh (viola) and special guest Alex Neilson (Trembling Bells) on drums.
Support comes from Portland-based Mary Sutton's solo project Saloli, whose sound and songs have been described as warm-blooded wiring, turned on and tapped into, emotive and electric, active rather than ambient, more suggestive than scripted, full of lulls, asymmetries, and daydreams.
