Sat 3 Nov 2018, Barbican Hall, 8pm
Tickets £17.50 – 25 plus booking fee
On 3 November 2018 Connan Mockasin will make his Barbican debut, hosting the London premiere of part one (of five) of his concept project Bostyn ’n Dobsyn.
Bostyn ‘n Dobsyn is the title of a 5-part film by Connan Mockasin in conjunction with his third upcoming album Jassbusters, released worldwide in October by Mexican Summer. Based on comics and short films Mockasin made 20 years ago, Bostyn ’n Dobsyn is about a music teacher, Bostyn, his student Dobsyn, and features music by Bostyn's band (with three other music teachers) called Jassbusters.
The night at the Barbican will see a screening of the first episode of the Bostyn ‘n Dobsyn series, which is followed by a Jassbusters set – Connan’s band, who will play tracks from the upcoming new album – and will close with a performance by Connan Mockasin.
New Zealander Connan Tant Hosford, AKA surreal R&B artist Connan Mockasin, released his first album Please Turn Me Into the Snat in 2010. He has toured with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Radiohead, and has collaborated with the likes of James Blake and MGMT.
