The Barbican and La Linea Festival present GRAMMY Award-winning artist Lila Downs for an exclusive UK performance in 2027. The acclaimed Mexican artist will perform works from her new acoustic album Cambias mi Mundo (You Change My World), as well as material from across her career.

Lila Downs is one of Latin American’s most influential voices. Rooted in Oaxaca and shaped between Mexico and the United States, she weaves Mexican rancheras and corridos with jazz standards, hip-hop, cumbia, and North American Folk. Her music is both a protest for social justice and a celebration of Mexican culture – turning each concert into a gathering where identity is honoured and stories are reclaimed. Performing a new album of original songs and more, audiences will experience the singer-songwriter’s most acoustic and intimate work to date in the Barbican Hall.

Singing in Spanish and English as well as Native American languages Zapotec, Mixtec, Nahuatl, Maya and Purépecha, Down's career has taken her to major concert halls with the likes of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra as well as with Barbican friends and regular visitors: Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra. Globally recognised, she has collaborated with artists across genres including Mercedes Sosa, Norah Jones, Santana and Natalia Lafourcade. Her music also featured on the soundtrack to the acclaimed film Frida (2002) featuring Salma Hayek.
