+ special guests

The Barbican announces today that acclaimed actor Amanda Seyfried, star of forthcoming film The Testament of Ann Lee, will join Oscar-winning composer Daniel Blumberg on stage to perform songs from Mona Fastvold's film. Blumberg and Seyfried will be joined by a specially assembled ensemble comprising Billy Steiger (violin), Ilana Blumberg (voice), Maggie Nicols (voice), Phil Minton (voice), Steve Noble (percussion) and Tom Wheatley (double bass) ahead of the film’s UK release on 20 February 2026.

In an intimate performance at Milton Court Concert Hall, Blumberg and his cast of collaborators bring his mesmerising score to life in a concert setting, offering audiences a rare chance to experience the music before it reaches the screen (watch the trailer here).

The Testament of Ann Lee centres on the 18th-century Shaker leader whose radical ideas on gender and social equality shaped a utopian religious movement. Seyfried portrays Ann Lee in the film and sings on the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (out now via Mute), featuring the singles “All is Summer” and “Hunger and Thirst”. Drawing on reimagined Shaker hymns alongside newly composed songs and score by Blumberg, the performance will pair folk tradition with Blumberg’s avant-garde soundscapes.

Last year, Seyfried starred in widely lauded thriller The Housemaid and in the crime drama miniseries Long Bright River. In 2023, Blumberg released his third solo album GUT, and The Testament of Ann Lee marks his return to the Barbican programme with a project that continues his ongoing collaboration with director Mona Fastvold, following his Oscar and BAFTA-winning score for The Brutalist in 2025.
