Stage Assistants

The Barbican is Europe's largest multi-arts and conference venue presenting a diverse range of art, music, theatre, dance, film and creative learning events.

We present an ambitious, international programme that crosses art forms, with outstanding artists and performers. We excel at projects that hover over the edge of classification. Cutting across all forms of music including work by contemporary musicians, experimental collaborations and leading orchestras and soloists from around the work.

We're looking for two Stage Assistant positions, one full-time permanent Stage Assistant and one Fixed-Term Contract, Stage Assistant to work in the Barbican Concert Hall. These positions are pivotal in the deliverance of a multi-disciplinary schedule of events.  Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary arts venue or equivalent experience in a similar venue is essential, as is knowledge of statutory Health & Safety Regulations and industry practices.

The successful candidates will have some relevant experience of working on music or theatre stages, and basic experience in maintenance of equipment. Knowledge of how to set up a wide range of instruments and accompanying equipment on stage is desirable.

The ability to work independently under pressure in a multi-task environment as well as part of a dynamic and supportive team is essential. Weekend and evening work is an integral part of the job, so the candidate must have a flexible attitude.
