Communications Internship - Theatre and Dance

Job Type: Temporary, (3 Days a week - 3 Months)

Salary: £12.16 Per Hour

We’re looking for someone interested in theatre and dance, who wants to learn about how we work with the media to promote our year-round Theatre and Dance programme. We’re offering a three-month, paid internship in our Communications team, starting in January 2022. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Our already-announced 2022 Theatre and Dance programme includes four shows as part of London International Mime Festival, performances by our Artistic Associate, Boy Blue, and Belarus Free Theatre making their Barbican debut. In January, we’ll also be announcing more exciting Theatre and Dance performances, from April 2022 onwards.

You’ll work closely with our Senior Communications Manager and our Communications Officer, and with wider Communications colleagues, to generate media coverage for our forthcoming productions. You’ll also work closely with other Barbican colleagues from our Theatre and Dance and Marketing teams. You’ll get to collaborate with a range of creative teams and media outlets across all platforms – print, broadcast and online.

Your role will include keeping up to date with Barbican media coverage, research, preparing images and press packs, thinking up news angles and organising interview logistics. You’ll also be invited to attend media events such as photocalls and press nights.

The internship is three days per week, for three months and we can offer flexibility around whether you work from home, from the Barbican offices, or a mixture of both. The salary is £12.16 per hour.
