Classical Opera 20th Birthday Concert

Image of the Choir and Orchestra of The Mozartists

Celebrating their 20th birthday, Classical Opera and The Mozartists explore themes of birth, renewal, humanity and aspiration in a programme centred around Beethoven’s climactic Symphony No 9.

Classical Opera is renowned for its story-telling and quality of programming, and this concert promises to take the audience on a unique and inspiring journey, featuring thoughtful, rousing and historically-informed performances of a sequence of great music, alongside a sequence of short readings selected to reflect and enhance the musical works being performed.

Ian Page, founder and Artistic Director of Classical Opera and The Mozartists, has won widespread critical acclaim for his interpretations of the music of Mozart and his contemporaries. His orchestra, led by Matthew Truscott, is ‘packed with many of the wisest practitioners in the business’ according to Gramophone, and the choir is hand-picked from singers who appear regularly with such choirs as Tenebrae and The Monteverdi Choir.
