Programme change:
Lisa Milne is unwell and no longer able to take part in the 7.30pm concert in the Barbican Hall. Thea Musgrave’s Songs for a Winter’s Evening will be replaced by the London premiere of the composer’s work for string orchestra, Green.

Turbulent Landscapes

Martyn Brabbins
conductor
Martin Owen horn

The spotlight falls on players within the BBC Symphony Orchestra for Turbulent Landscapes, six arresting evocations of paintings by Turner, while the horn section has an important role to play in 'surrounding' soloist Martin Owen in Musgrave's ingenious Horn Concerto. Martyn Brabbins conducts this, and her vivacious showpiece The Seasons.

The concert will finish at approximately 9.45pm
