A jubilant, swinging and powerful celebration of the historic Congo Square site in New Orleans - the only location in America where African slaves were allowed to perform music from their motherland - and where the roots of American music were first established.

Wynton Marsalis and Ghanaian drum master Yacub Addy co-wrote this ground-breaking composition, a profound blend of traditional and creative African percussion and song with jazz forms from New Orleans to swing.  It debuted in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans in the spring of 2006 before a wildly enthusiastic audience in Congo Square - presented as a gift to help with the spiritual revival of the Crescent City.
