The Barbican is delighted to announce that from September 2012 two new cinema auditoria situated on the corner of Beech Street and Whitecross Street will join the highly regarded Cinema One to deliver a world-class programme of specialist, international cinema, live events and quality new releases across all three screens.
The new, purpose built Barbican Cinemas, with exteriors designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects who were responsible for the most recent redevelopment of the Barbican’s foyers, will enjoy a stunning street-level entrance plus facilities to include a restaurant, a café-bar and two 156 seat auditoria. The cinema auditoria design will be delivered by specialists NBDA Architects.

It is particularly pleasing in the Barbican’s 30th year that these two new screens will be the first venue additions since the Barbican opened its doors in 1982”.
The Barbican Cinemas street-level presence on Beech Street means that they will become an integral part of the vibrant Cultural Quarter within the heart of the City of London which offers a richly varied range of venues and performance spaces including the Guildhall School’s superb new emerging building at Milton Court (which will open in September 2013), the church of St Giles Cripplegate, LSO St Luke’s on Old Street, the new Barbican Cinemas alongside the Barbican Centre.
