Transcender reaches its fifth edition in 2013, having grown out of our previous Ramadan Nights series of music rooted in Islamic traditions.
This now established and critically acclaimed series explores the different musics, from East to West and ancient to modern, that share a common impulse towards an altered state of consciousness, using pulse, repetition, hypnotic patterns and ecstatic peaks.
This subterranean thread forms the link between traditional flamenco (cante jondo) and Sufi mantras, between contemporary electronic meditations and 1960s psychedelia - all of which you'll be able to explore in this year's programme.
