The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra can boast the title of world's oldest symphony orchestra and boasts an enviably prestigious roll-call of conductors including today's highly acclaimed chief conductor Riccardo Chailly.
This five-concert residency sees the orchestra perform a complete cycle of Beethoven's Symphonies as well as five specially commissioned contemporary works written by some of today’s most influential composers in response to Beethoven’s music.

To complement this fantastic concert programme we are excited to be working with the Gewandhaus Orchestra to deliver work beyond the concert platform, into East London and explore music with our many audiences.
In partnership with Vital Arts, the arts organisation for Barts and The London NHS Trust, a quartet from the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig will be performing in hospital waiting areas, providing live music to offer respite from patients daily treatments and care.
In addition we will also be delivering concerts in Princess May Primary School, in partnership with Hackney Music Service.
If you would like to get in involved do come to one of the following concerts.
