Electronic artists and composers James Holden, Luke Abbott and Koreless celebrate the work and influence of minimalist composer Terry Riley.
Riley pioneered the use of technology in minimalist music and is widely considered to be one of the greatest composers in contemporary classical music.
Using new technologies, including specially built chaotic sequencers, synthesisers and percussion, these three musicians, at the forefront of the modern electronic music scene, pay homage to Riley with brand new collaborative compositions influenced by his work.
‘Terry's music exists in my mind as an endlessly folding pattern. Listening to his music gives me a reassuring sense of stasis, as if being held by the sound. But there is also a great sense of adventure in his music, it puts you in the moment and energises you.’ - Luke Abbott
Hello Terry Riley was initiated and co-commissioned by Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, as part of the World Minimal Music Festival 8-12 Apr, where it will be performed on Sat 11 Apr in the presence of Terry Riley.
