A spokesperson for the Barbican said:
“The Barbican has taken the decision to cancel the Just Jam concert that was scheduled to take place on 1 March 2014 on the grounds of public safety following dialogue with the City of London Police. As a responsible public venue we have to take police advice seriously and consider the safety of audience members, artists and our staff.
“We apologise for any disappointment caused to ticket holders and artists and will be offering a full refund to everyone who has booked tickets for this event.
“All other events taking place as part of the Barbican Weekender will be going ahead as scheduled and we look forward to welcoming audiences to the Centre for a free weekend exploring the arts and technology.”
Gritty beats, new media arts and live performance - unleashed in full-blow spectacular style on the Barbican stage, as Omar Souleyman, Loefah & Chunky, JME & Big Narstie, SOPHIE, Mount Kimbie, Kurupt FM, Chicago footwork producer RP Boo and leading dancer Light Bulb, perform with their own bespoke live visual artistry projected on massive screens.
East London-based photographers Tim and Barry have been documenting the capital’s grime scene since its beginnings. Dubbed ‘the kings of the photographic underground’ (Wired), they have worked with artists like Dizzee Rascal, Jammer and M.I.A., alongside their ongoing commitment to provide emerging artists and local kids with creative workshops on audio and video production.
Just Jam is the live online channel they have been running for over four years on DontWatchThat.tv. The show is now taking a giant leap from the raves and the green screened studio to the Barbican's Hall. The show is a huge undertaking which will have a 20-metre screen, streaming the event live from the 2,000 people at the venue, to the millions of people tuning in around the world.
So Just Jam with Tim and Barry, because this state-of-the-art multimedia experience will be like no other. And dance until late after the show on the free Noisey ClubStage.
