Der Glorreiche Augenblick
, Beethoven's 'Peace Cantata', is a unique work - an intensely uplifting celebration after years of the brutal Napoleonic Wars. Beethoven loved the work, a very personal utterance which contains much exhilarating music. Too long neglected, it is here paired with the composer's best known piano concerto, giving a rare and fascinating chance to compare the two works. The joyful tone is set by the Choral Fantasy, anticipating the well-known theme of the 9th Symphony.
