Caetano Veloso & Teresa Cristina

21 April 2017 / 20:00
‘One of the greatest songwriters of the century’ (New York Times), Brazilian superstar Caetano Veloso’s music radiates warmth and passion. Continually pushing Brazilian musical traditions into exciting new realms, here he presents rising Brazilian Samba star Teresa Cristina.

Launching her new Nonesuch album, Canta Cartola, she pays homage to the great poet Cartola from the Mangueira Samba school – one of the most important figures in the development of the Samba sound. Teresa will open the night with Cartola’s repertoire, followed by a performance by Caetano himself. Together, the artists close the show by singing a few of Caetano’s greatest hits - his seductive, melodic voice and Bossa-nova guitar perfectly matched by Teresa’s passionate vocals.

Enchanted by her live performance and keen to share her charm and elegance with the world, Caetano describes the first time he saw Teresa perform in Brazil – ‘The tranquillity in which every chosen chord suggests Teresa’s voice entrance refines the listeners soul. And Teresa grows at every melody, every word, every second. Every Brazilian should watch and hear what happened that night.’ This worldwide tour marks the first time the two artists have presented the project live.
