Joshua Bell in Recital

28 March 2017 / 19:30

Violinist extraordinaire Joshua Bell makes a hugely welcome return for his first solo recital at the Barbican since 2012.

‘Mr Bell doesn’t stand in anyone’s shadow’ says the New York Times of this superlative American violinist. What’s for certain is that he’ll fill this relatively rare UK solo recital with music-making of unmatched eloquence and warmth.

This will be a special occasion for Bell and his regular recital-partner, pianist Sam Haywood, too. ‘Chamber music is my greatest love’ says Bell, and his last Barbican recital drew widespread acclaim, with Classical Source praising the ‘rapt intimacy that made the large space of the Barbican Hall feel like the natural place for a chamber-music recital.’ This should be just as treasurable.
