The radiance of Danielle de Niese’s voice is matched only by her charisma; this colourful recital reveals her full, kaleidoscopic range.
De Niese is a singer with a huge personality, and her natural dramatic flair makes every one of her operatic appearances an occasion. But this is something different: a chamber recital featuring Grieg’s tender song-cycle Haugtussa and music by Dowland, Bizet and Wolf.
It’s a wonderfully varied programme, and de Niese is joined at the piano by Julius Drake - 'the best accompanist in the business' (New York Times). He’ll bring out the colour of this picturesque music; de Niese’s silvery voice should do the rest, whether in Grieg’s luminous miniatures, Dowland or Bizet.
