Anohni, the lead singer and songwriter from Antony and the Johnsons collaborates with Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke on the artist’s latest work.

A departure from the singer’s recent symphonic collaborations, her album Hopelessness is set to an electronic dance soundtrack with soulful vocals and direct lyrics addressing surveillance, drone warfare, and ecocide. The album seeks to disrupt assumptions about popular music by embedding vigorously political lyrics within dance/pop tracks.

Hopelessness will be out in spring 2016, with Anohni describing the new project as ‘an electronic record with some sharp teeth’. The first single, 4 Degrees, is out now and Barbican audiences will be amongst the first to hear material from the new album live in concert. The unusual staging for these events will feature joyous dancing and Anohni performing embodied within a live avatar.

Berlin based DJ rRoxymore will play a free post-show set on the ClubStage on Friday 8 July.
