Experience some of the cornerstones of Romantic song with the City of London Choir and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, from Brahmsís sacred A German Requiem, written in mourning for the death of his mother, to Straussís hauntingly beautiful Four Last Songs, sung here by the sensational soprano Claire Rutter. Mostly settings of texts concerned with the end of life, they embody a sense of calm, acceptance, and completeness.
