The Next Generation of Jazz

Hosted by Vincent Gardner with Wynton Marsalis plus special guests

19 February 2016 / 19:30

 Sold out

Join Wynton Marsalis and musicians from his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for an evening celebrating the rich history of jazz – passing the baton to some of London’s freshest jazz talent.

Learning about jazz through the music of Duke Ellington and his big band technique, Young Jazz East Big Band, formed of 13-18 year olds from across east London, perform their own take on his music. The evening will also feature performances from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the NYJO Academy Big Band, playing music from the American greats.

They’ll all be introduced by Wynton Marsalis and joined by musicians from JLCO including trombonist Vincent Gardner, leaving you with the distinctive sound of swing ringing in your ears.
