Natalie Dessay, one of the preeminent lyric sopranos of our time, explores the intimate world of lieder and French song.

London needs no introduction to Natalie Dessay – a soprano as comfortable alongside Dawn French or Michel Legrand as on the stage of the New York Met. Tonight she brings all her vocal radiance and sense of character to songs by Schubert and Mendelssohn, and mélodies from her beloved French repertoire.

‘For Dessay, only one word will do: genius’, wrote The Daily Telegraph when Natalie Dessay appeared in the Royal Opera’s La Fille du Régiment – comparing her favourably to Joan Sutherland, ‘La Stupenda’ herself. As Dessay steps aside from the operatic stage, this beautifully-devised song recital reveals a more personal side to that genius, and an exquisite new focus for that luminous voice.
