In the second of their two chamber concerts, the famous Gewandhaus Quartet play Brahms’s lyrical second quartet. More inward and reflective than the first, it has a dynamic final movement that is modeled on a Hungarian folk dance.
The Quartet’s performance is introduced by Edward Seckerson (BBC Radio 3) and is followed by a discussion with Sonja Epping (Head of Artistic Planning, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig). They take a behind the scenes look at artistic planning, and explore music heard so far in the Brahms cycle.
Brahms String Quartet No 2 in A minor, Op 52
