Find out more about Dancing around Duchamp

Composer, avant-garde flautist and a founding member of Band Of Susans, Susan Stenger has been exploring John Cage's music since she first encountered it as a teenager in Buffalo, NY. For this special event she assembles a unique trio of musicians to explore some of Cage's most consistently intriguing pieces: Concert for Piano and Orchestra (1957-8), Fontana Mix (1958) and Ryoanji (1983-5).

In tribute to Cage's passionate interest in mycology, the performance will include playback of a new version of Fontana Mix realised by sound ecologist Michael Prime, using sounds derived entirely from bioelectrical recordings he made from a living mushroom.

Please note that due to tonight's performance, there will be no dance in the gallery this evening.
