Working without a conductor, Britten Sinfonia musicians communicate with each other through their bodies and gestures. The string quartet is at the core of the ensemble, their interpretations setting the agenda and rippling outward to the other players.
Britten Sinfonia’s Lab will work intensively with four string quartets, focusing on the key skills of listening and communication while examining Britten's Second String Quartet and core string quartet repertoire. We invite string quartets at conservatoire level and above to apply for this intensive Lab, which is the perfect opportunity to learn from and share music with Britten Sinfonia players.
To apply Please complete an application form and provide the following information: • A biography of your quartet • Audio and/or visual footage of your quartet performing • Up to 300 words on how you feel your quartet would benefit from this opportunity
Please send your completed application to Sarah Jones, Projects Assistant, Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning
Email: sarah.jones@barbican.org.uk
Post: Barbican/Guildhall Creative Learning, Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS
Deadline for applications: 12pm on Thursday 14 March 2013.
