Captivating Australian singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko is joined by her band and a string section to present music from her new album, I Awake and songs from her repertoire - including the acclaimed As Day Follows Night (2010).
Self-produced and recorded in Stockholm and in Sofia, with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, I Awake is intense, intimate, unsettling and beautiful and sees Sarah continuing to push her creative boundaries. With its startling honesty and willingness to plumb the deepest thought and the darkest shadow, the record reveals the mettle and spirit of an indomitable artist.
Whether it’s a spiritual, existential or romantic struggle, the failures and the will to survive are realised in every note. It’s not the addition of an orchestra per se that makes I Awake a great record, it’s Blasko’s ability to etch their presence into her wounds, temper her weaknesses with their absence.
'Disarming vocals on this beguiling baroque pop' The Independent
'She has the rare ability to suspend you in that bittersweet state between heartbreak and heart-swell' Grazia
We are pleased to announce that support will come from Lady Lamb The Beekeeper.
