How do you talk about an entire culture? Or what about humanity at large… where do you start? East London collective The Light Surgeons certainly haven’t shied away from the challenge, in the kaleidoscopic filmic journey which is Super Everything*.
Taking the poetic landscape of Malaysia – shaken by eroding identities and clashing rituals, traditions endangered by industrial progress and ecologic issues – as a case study, Super Everything* is an immersive documentary on our ever-developing societies, performed live – with visuals exploded across multiple screens, motion graphics, onstage combinations of videos with Malay Gamelan, Chinese drumming and electronic music, all enhanced with live performance by adventurous string players from the Heritage Orchestra.
Identity, consumerism, globalisation, industrialisation, freedom, belief… This is a journey through our past, to understand our present and to imagine our future. It asks a timeless question about who we are and what we might become as both individuals and as a society.

Violinist, producer and film-maker Zan Lyons will open the evening.

WARNING: Flash images are used in Super Everything* and strobe effects in Zan Lyons's set.
