In celebration of his 75th birthday, the uniquely expressive saxophonist returns to London for a landmark concert with the iconic singer Maria Farantouri – Greece’s voice of resistance.
The Lloyd quartet - which includes brilliant pianist Jason Moran, bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Greg Hutchinson - will open the evening, followed by a set featuring music from Lloyd and Farantouri's stunning concert in Athens in 2010, subsequently released on CD by ECM – a marvellous programme that includes songs by Mikis Theodorakis, suites of Greek traditional music, Eleni Karaindrou’s 'Journey to Kythera' and Lloyd originals including his classic 'Dream Weaver'.
