The ancient and contemporary culture of Iran, embraces diverse regions with unique indigenous customs, dialects, music and dance, ritual attires, and cuisines, often unfamiliar to other regions of the country. This lack of familiarity is especially keen when it pertains to music, as the music finds its folkloric roots in the lyrics, rhythms, and beats of that region.
Discerning the significance of such diversity and the importance of staging an all-embracing event highlighting the heterogeneity of folkloric music in Iran, the Festival of Arts, in keeping with its tradition and leadership initiatives, has invited Rastak Music Group for the first time to the UK for a live performance.
A sixteen member Music Group, playing a multitude of instruments some modified to create their desired sounds,"Rastak Music Group was formed not too long ago with an eye to explore the folkloric uniqueness of music performed in various regions of Iran. Their music represents the north by the Caspian sea, to the south by the Persian Gulf, to the east from khorasan, the west from Kurdistan , the south west from Khuzestan, to the north west from Azerbaijan, and copious other regions; thus giving their music eclectic and spirited flavors.
