Mozart Piano Concerto No 25, K503
Mahler Symphony No 5

Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 25, composed at the same time as his ‘Prague’ Symphony, is grand and symphonic, with trumpets and timpani adding to the festive atmosphere. Although Mahler’s Fifth Symphony starts with a Funeral March, the delicate Adagietto, reportedly written for the composer’s future wife Alma, creates a decisive turning point, leading the way to a conclusion of joyous triumph.
