John Adams Guide to Strange Places
Britten Four Sea Interludes
Holst The Planets

John Wilson conductor
National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain
CBSO Youth Chorus

John Adams describes his Guide to Strange Places as a journey into 'an imagined, unexpected underworld', lit up by dark, violent textures and vivid orchestral colours. In The Planets, Holst uses the full spectrum of the orchestra to give a musical depiction of the Solar System. The 165-strong National Youth Orchestra also performs Benjamin Britten's brooding depiction of the Suffolk coast, the Four Sea Interludes.
