Following last year's Jazz Festival debut, the East London Creative Jazz Orchestra return to the Barbican Freestage with a new collaboration with Gretchen Parlato and her band.

Gretchen Parlato and tutors from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama have been working with East London Creative Jazz Orchestra in the lead up to the London Jazz Festival, offering guidance and inspiration to young players from across 10 East London boroughs.

The East London Creative Jazz Orchestra is an ensemble formed by young London musicians drawn from the ten Olympic Gateway boroughs in partnership with local music services.

Working under the direction of music educator Paul Griffiths and members of Blue Pepper jazz group, the East London Creative Jazz Orchestra has collaborated with renowned musicians from Jazz at Lincoln Center (New York) as well as Grammy-nominated Blue Note pianist Robert Glasper, and have performed on the Barbican FreeStage to large audiences, receiving critical acclaim.
