Mozart's late opera La Clemenza di Tito, drawing on the history of the Roman emperor Titus, was premiered to celebrate the coronation of Emperor Leopold II. The drama, tension and ultimate nobility expressed in the story is reflected in a score rich in episodes of exquisitely graceful beauty. As music director of New York's Mostly Mozart Festival, conductor Louis Langrée's insight into Mozart's music is a given, as too will be the interpretative dedication and artistic excellence of the cast's leading soloists: Canadian Michael Schade is one of the finest of Mozartian tenors and Alice Coote, equally famed on the great operatic stages as in concert and recital, has been named the 'superlative British Mezzo' (San Francisco Chronicle).
'Louis Langrée is a pleasant discovery; energetic, vibrant and full of charisma.' Il Giorno
"Coote’s ample high mezzo fits this trousers role like a perfectly tailored glove and her fearless vocalism and emotional commitment in the aria in praise of music provided the high point of the evening." Chicago Classical Review
