Andreas Scholl: J.S Bach - Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust
Andreas Scholl: J.S Bach - Geist und Seele wird verwirret
Andreas Scholl: J.S Bach - Erbarme dich
Throughout his career countertenor Andreas Scholl has combined an inquisitive enthusiasm for musical exploration with a commitment to presenting even the most popular pieces in the vocal repertoire with a feeling of renewed discovery. This programme fits firmly in the latter, as he performs two of Bach's most eloquent sacred cantatas. BWV 82 is one of the most beautiful and stately examples of the genre in which Bach excelled so astonishingly prolifically, powerfully and poignantly. Since their foundation in 1984 the Kammerorchester Basel, Scholl's musical collaborators this evening, have developed into expert exponents of the chamber orchestra tradition.
'Scholl delivered with that familiar, otherworldly tone that sends shivers down your spine.'
The Guardian
'Any singer wishing to learn a thing or two about engaging an audience should witness Andreas Scholl in action. He never ceased to be captivating.'
