'The luminous Californian saxophonist Charles Lloyd... returns with a new young band to play music from his incredible ECM album Mirror which captures this spiritual figurehead at his most passionately lyrical, making his appearance one of the most hotly anticipated of the whole festival.' Time Out
A totemic figure from the spiritual side of jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd has explored everything from muscular post bop to Eastern modalities and Indian ragas from his days playing to rock audiences in the heady days of the 60s, to his longstanding work on ECM. He continues his forward looking vision of jazz here with an exciting trio of young stars with pianist Jason Moran, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Eric Harland.
Norma Winstone occupies a special place among Europe’s jazz voices, ethereal yet rich she suffuses folk and classical sensibilities into her rarefied, glacially beautiful music. Performing songs from her new ECM album Stories Yet To Tell she’s joined by pianist Glauco Venier and multi reedist Klaus Gesing.
