Maudie (12A)

4 - 17 August 2017
Cinema 2 / Cinema 3
Sally Hawkins gives powerful performance as Canadian folk artist Maud Lewis, in this inspiring biographical drama from Aisling Walsh.

Born with crippling arthritis, bright-eyed but hunched Maude yearns to live away from her protective family and to create art. When Maudie takes a post as a housekeeper for reclusive and gruff bachelor Everett (Ethan Hawke), the pair unexpectedly fall and love and marry. Living in a small one-room house in rural Marshalltown, Maude’s passion and talent for painting begins to shine, as she refuses to be defined by her disability.
