Green for Danger (PG)

+ Presentation by Dr Tom Clutton-Brock

A still from Green for Danger

A postman dies on an operating table, but is there something more to it? An unusual war-time whodunit, starring Alistair Sim and Trevor Howard, with cunning at every corner.

Over 3 million patients have a general anaesthetic in the UK every year.  To many, the thought of anaesthesia is frightening and is associated with all sorts of perceived risk and dangers.  In reality, over the last 50 or so years, anaesthesia has become a remarkably safe procedure and there is a need to better educate both patients and the public about what really goes on.

Using Sidney Gilliat’s murder mystery as a reference point, Dr Tom Clutton-Brock discusses the advances in anaesthetic practise throughout the twentieth century before a screening of the film.
