In this double work, abstractions of light travel across and into the sounds and space created by artist and composer John Cage. The screening will be introduced by Jeremy Millar.
Intended as a unified work, One11 and 103 is made up of the film One11, the eleventh work in the Number Pieces series, and the sound composition 103, a 17-part orchestral piece composed using aleatoric methods; premiered in 1992 at the Cologne Philharmonie, it is presented here in a video version supervised by Cage himself.
Jeremy Millar is an artist and tutor at the RCA, London. In 2010 he conceived the Hayward Touring exhibition, John Cage: Every Day is a Good Day, the largest exhibition of Cage's visual art to date.
