With live piano duet accompaniment by Neil Brand and John Sweeney.
We welcome two of the UK’s most celebrated silent film musicians, Neil Brand and John Sweeney, for a unique ‘piano four hands’ accompaniment to arguably the most visually inspired and exciting horror films of the silent era.
A tale of hypnosis, murder and insanity, laden with the gloom and fear that prevailed in Germany as it emerged from the First World War. With its dazzling expressionistic set designs (by Hermann Warm, Walter Roehrig and Walter Reimann, all affiliated to the magazine Sturm), Robert Wienne’s landmark film tells the story of the hypnotist Dr. Caligari, who uses a sleepwalker to commit his gruesome murders. Starring Werner Krauss and Conrad Veidt.
