This special screening will be introduced by Grzegorz Jarzyna, whose production of Nosferatu takes place in the Barbican Theatre from 31 Oct - 3 Nov.

Nosferatu is based upon one of the most evocative texts in popular culture, Bram Stokerís Dracula, and FW Murnauís 1922 film adaptation relocates the story from Transylvania to nineteenth-century Bremen.

Max Schreck stars as the terrifying Count Orlock, who thirsts for the body and soul of a young clerk and his beautiful wife. Regarded as the first vampire film, this is still one of the most artistically original and masterfully ghoulish of the genre. Paul Robinsonís beguiling score is performed by the six piece HarmonieBand (featuring piano, clarinet, accordion, saxophone, percussion and cello), and is a wonderful amalgam of styles underpinned by cabaret sounds and nods to the work of Kurt Weill.

Germany 1922 Dir F W Murnau 84 min

With live musical accompaniment by Paul Robinson's HarmonieBand.
