Bauhaus: New Ways of Living (PG*)

This programme of documentary films provides a unique look at the idea of a ‘new way of living’ that prevailed in the avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s.

Moholy-Nagy captures the International Congress of Modern Architects on film. Richter’s Die Neue Wohnung (1930) is an ironic deconstruction of the quintessential bourgeois living room. Ellen Auerbach’s Tel Aviv (1934) shows the building of a new community based on Bauhaus ideals while the series of short films Wie wohnen wir gesund und wirtschaftlich?* offers a magnificent insight into the core principles that shaped the Bauhaus.
