Bold, experimental and inventive, Ron Arad defies categorisation. This internationally acclaimed London-based maverick is variously described as a designer, architect and artist.
Ron Arad: Restless explores three decades of Arad’s work from his early post-punk approach of assembling products from readymade parts to his exclusive and highly polished sculptural objects. Featuring a dramatic exhibition design using the latest LED display technology, the exhibition also includes architectural designs and immediately recognisable mass produced pieces.
Inspired by Ron Arad’s infectious curiosity and boundless sense of freedom, Barbican Art Gallery celebrates his work with a host of talks, workshops and lively, late-night gallery activities. Throughout Ron Arad: Restless Barbican Art Gallery is open every Thursday evening until 10pm.
Enjoy a playful experience at the Absolut Bar in the company of friends and relax in a dedicated area of the exhibition furnished exclusively with Ron Arad designs. Try them out while watching others test their skills on Arad’s very own ping pong table.
Design by Decade
Celebrate the evolution of the architecture, art and design communities in London since the 1970s. Join us on four evenings – each dedicated to one of the decades Ron Arad has lived and worked in London – for a panel discussion followed by a chance to meet the speakers over drinks. In the Gallery, sample the flavour of each decade by taking part in specially curated retro fun as DJs selected by Rough Trade drop beats from the era.
