Exciting and engaging activities for all across the arts
'The fact that the Barbican is hosting such cutting-edge events alongside a fairly mainstream and accessible exhibition demonstrates that it truly is at the forefront of exciting modern art curation.'
- Dee Sada, Art Rocker on Fourth Dimentional Minds – part of the Watch Me Move Exhibition Events programme, August 2011

We offer exciting and engaging activities for adults across all ages and artforms. If you want to become more involved in the work that we do, we provide a rich range of talks and debates, festivals and open days as part of our public programme. For detail of what’s coming up, please see what's on.

Talks and Debates

Our talks and debates are open to the public, and cover a huge range of topics. Every Thursday evening we host Art Gallery talks, with a specialist speaker, expert in their field, relating to the current exhibition in the Barbican Art Gallery. We also host talks on film, and are widening our programme to include debates and lectures covering the most pressing issues in the arts.

Barbican Weekend Events
Several times a year the Barbican Centre is filled with fun activities, live performances and workshops as part of our Come and Play and Barbican Weekender Events. The events are free and suitable for all ages; the perfect way to get a taste of what happens at the ‘coolest arts centre in Europe’.

For Families
With regular family theatre shows and concerts, alongside film screenings every Saturday with our Family Film Club, there’s plenty going on for families at the Barbican.

Masterclasses
A range of masterclasses with Guildhall School students are also open to the public. Lead by world renowned artists, including musicians from the Barbican’s International Associates programme. This is a chance to get up close with the world’s best musicians and most exciting young talent. Please keep an eye on our “What’s On” pages for up and coming events.
